The Sons of the American Revolution have
made a diligent effort to locate and mark the graves of those Patriots who
served in the American Revolution. However, this work is only the beginning of the
American Patriot story. This story continues with the sons and daughters of
those brave Americans as both Patriots and their children moved across North
America to settle the frontier of the Western Reserve; forging west across the
Mississippi and into the uncharted Louisiana wilderness to settled and tame our
nation. The legacy of our Patriots continues today as we recognize the value of
their many descendants in establishing the towns and villages that would grow
into the organized states that lay to the west.
Many communities, states and organizations
were founded by these Patriot Sons & Daughters and by highlighting Patriot
Sons and daughters, we acknowledge of our Patriot Ancestors as we hold
ceremonies to commemorate their Sons and Daughters, bringing attention to SAR
National and Americas 250th Anniversary of founding.
Each time a grave is marked, the history
of our Patriot Ancestor will be included in the ceremony, once again
highlighting the importance of our founding generation.
As part of the America 250 SAR Committee
program, these events will facilitate a connection with the youth we educate
that will inspire them to connect and learn more about our Patriot Ancestors
and their Patriot Sons and Daughters. Grave medallions will be presented as
part of a ceremony honoring our Patriot Ancestor.
To honor the contributions of these many
individuals, the America 250 SAR Committee seeks to place grave markers on the
graves of sons, grandsons, daughters and granddaughters of our Patriot
Ancestors.
