Summary: The Caleb Gibbs State Color Guard Commander’s Medal is
awarded to a State Color Guard Commander after completion of 2 years in
office. The State President is the approving authority
for this award upon the recommendation of the State Color Guard Commander. The medal may be presented for retroactive service, so
that any living past State Color Guard Commander may receive it. A
likeness of Major Caleb Gibbs will be the face of the medal. Major Gibbs
was the Commander of Washington’s Guard from May 1776 to January 1781.
Description: The front of the medal depicts a likeness of Major Caleb
Gibbs, the commander of Washington’s Guard. The inscription reads, “Color Guard
Commander’s Medal” “Caleb Gibbs, Commander, Washington’s Guard”. The
ribbon colors are blue and buff.

Presentation is Authorized: An Oak Leaf
Cluster will be awarded for every 2 years of additional service as the State
Color Guard Commander.
